A Visit from Jaws and Claws

It was with great trepidation that we went down to Jaws and Claws at 9 o’clock this morning. The children were astonished to discover that Phil, our visitor, keeps all of his animals at his home as his pets!

It was decided that Brian the enormous snail was very slimy. Many children stroked his shell but only a few would hold him.

I was a little alarmed when the next guest came out: Jimmy the Madagascan hissing cockroach. We were astonished to learn that cockroaches can run at 10 miles an hour, could survive for 2 years in a freezer, hold their breath 2 hours, run through fire, and live for 2 weeks without a head!

We also met Alice the snake, a royal python, Buster the tree frog (who jumped off Isabelle and crawled down Archie’s leg), Rosie the tarantula, a tortoise, Larry the rat, Mel the cane toad and George the beaded dragon.

My favourtie question of the day was aimed at the large lizard: “Do they breathe fire?” 🙂

Please enjoy our photos and the children’s recounts and facts about the creatures.
