We were blessed with absolutely beautiful autumnal weather last week for our English lesson at Manor Barn. Year 2 walked across the footbridge (waving at the cars as we went) to the stunning gardens. We were thinking autumnal thoughts and collecting nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs for the children’s poems about Autumn. The children were impeccably well behaved and worked really hard for the hour we were out and came back to school brimming with ideas for their poems. We hope that you enjoy reading our poems as much as we enjoyed writing them!
It was lovely to see so many parents at our MacMillan Coffee morning today. The children were very excited and happy to perform the autumnal songs and their very first ocarina piece. I couldn’t have been prouder of the children, after just 3 weeks of term! Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were word perfect and very attentive through the whole performance. I was particularly pleased with Reception, so brave to join us in the performance after just a few weeks of school. It was also wonderful to see the Year 2s play their ocarinas after just a few lessons. I guess I’d best start getting our nativity ready now!
This week, inspired by the book Rumble in the Jungle, Year 2 created short movies. Thursday afternoon, the children made a jungle panorama for a back drop, created their fabulous jungle animals out of play dough and used the iPads to create a stop motion animation. On Friday morning, the children had great fun using iMovie to import their media and add sounds: music, special effects and a voice over. We hope you enjoy watching the short videos below.
