Good to Be Me

Well, here it is! Our topic song for this term along with the front covers of their topic books that they created in the first week of term. I hope you enjoy their singing and, oh yes, they are singing in two parts! 🙂

A Visit from Brian Moses!

The well-know and much celebrated author of children’s poetry graced Battle Abbey Prep School with his presence today. He set the mood for the day with a performance of his poetry for KS2 followed by writing workshops. KS1 were so excited to have their own private performance in the afternoon.

The children in KS1 have been familiarising themselves with some of his work over the last couple of weeks, and thinking about what sort of questions they would like to ask a famous author. Yesterday, Year 2 children had the opportunity to explore Brian Moses’ website and choose their favourite poem. The most popular poem amongst the class was, perhaps unsurprisingly, My Shopping Trolley performed here by Brian Moses himself! We were very excited when Brian Moses performed it at our show. 🙂

The children were enthralled by the mix of poetry, percussion and Brian Moses’ charismatic stage presence. The whole of KS1 knew the question to ask on a long trip and were able to join in with “Are we there yet?” I guess they’ve had a lot of practise a that!

What was your favourite part of the show, Year 2?

Has anyone in Years 3-6 got any writing from the day that I can put on the blog?

Year 2’s Wishing Well Stories

As I’m sure many of you are aware, Year 2 have been hard at work creating wishing well money boxes as part of our D.T. topic of winding mechanisms. I will post pictures when we finish them next week. 🙂

Today, the children used their imaginations to invent a story about a wish that went wrong. The children worked together as a class and then in groups to each come up with ideas and a plan (using the story structure that they learned last week). The work you see below is entirely independent after the planning phase. Well done to everyone in Year 2!
